Photo tour: South Coast of Iceland

I could write pages about the beauty that lies next to the Ringroad of Southern Iceland. However, a phrase I hear way too often at work rings true for this as well. Show, not tell. Ready for a little photo tour of our first day driving through Iceland?

I:

We visited the black beach at Vík just after sunrise.

II:
The road is breathtakingly beautiful, so we stopped frequently to take it all in. Fascinated by the miles of outstretched wilderness around us, we took a random exit to drive into the nothingness for a few miles and take a walk with nothing but the horizon around us.

III:

This waterfall caught our attention and compelled us to take the exit. We’re glad we did, cause we found out that this was actually the exit for the famous  Fjaðrárgljúfur that we’ve been wanting to see.

IV:

We screamed like little girls when we saw the tip of the icebergs above the hills next to us. I have never seen anything like it, this bay filled with blue ice next to Diamond Beach.

Tomorrow I write about the Northern Lights, stay tuned!

All photographs of this first road trip day were taken by my iPhone 7 (and the ones that feature me are taken by Marlien Verburg on her iPhone). Please don’t share or use without asking for permission.
